About Ilene As a professional dance instructor and performer on Broadway, film, and television, Ilene Bergelson recognizes the importance of physical conditioning and the connection between mind and body. Determined to help people exercise conscientiously and become more in tune with their bodies, she became a health fitness professional. Her work is influenced by her experience with dance, yoga, alternative medicine and physical therapy. Ilene is an American Council on Exercise Continuing Education Specialist. She lectures on a variety of topics and provides continuing education for other fitness professionals through specialized workshops throughout the country. Ilene is also a co-creator of Posture Break™ with Equinox’s own Lashaun Dale and Frederick Schjang. breast cancer and surgery, prenatal and postpartum fitness, exercise for the older adult, post-rehabilitation protocols, power training, as well as both levels of Reactive Neuromuscular Training through Reebok University. In addition to her private clientele she is on staff as a group fitness instructor for Equinox health clubs in New York City. She has worked with athletes and clients dealing with various conditions including surgical reconstructions, orthopedic implants, joint replacements, scoliosis, disc herniations as well as guided many moms through their perinatal experience. Ilene is nationally certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Health Fitness Instructor, the American Council on Exercise and the C.H.E.K Institute as a Level I Corrective Holistic Exercise Practitioner. She has served on the Task Force for Dancer Health founded by Dr. Richard Gibbs and Actors' Equity Association's committee for workplace safety. Ilene has consulted on injury-related issues for the Actors' Fund. |
